Statewide Issues & Transfer Student Support

Dena Lawrence is the Illinois MyCreditsTransfer Coordinator, a state-funded initiative working in conjunction with the Illinois Articulation Initiative to strengthen and improve transfer in Illinois. Dena was a transfer student, herself. She is a proud alumna of Parkland College, Eastern Illinois University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she earned an Ed.M. in Ed Policy, Organization and Leadership. Dena has 18 years of experience in higher education from among 3 states. She is an active member of AACRAO, IACRAO, IACAC, and serves on Illinois Transfer Coordinators, Finish Up Illinois Advisory Council, and the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit. Dena provides training for 2- and 4-year advisors and high school college admission counselors and has presented regionally and nationally on many transfer topics. She serves as the Illinois reporter to AACRAO for the Transfer Credit Practices publication.

Malinda Aiello has over twenty years of higher education and management experience. She was recently appointed as the Director of the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI) which is a statewide transfer agreement that is transferable among more than 100 participating public and private colleges and universities in Illinois. Prior to her current position, Malinda worked for the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Illinois Community College Board managing IAI faculty panels and processes, worked on implementing and scaling various secondary-to-postsecondary readiness and transitions initiatives, and ensured law compliance by public institutions regarding transfer policies, transferable coursework, and guaranteed college credit for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams. Prior to working for the Boards, Malinda developed accelerated degree programs, provided student services, and worked with faculty to deliver programs for non-traditional students at Springfield College / Benedictine University at Springfield. Malinda holds an Associates of Art degree from Lincoln Land Community College, and from Benedictine University at Springfield a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Management and Organizational Behavior. 

John Panzica joined CollegeSource as a Transfer Solutions Specialist after working in higher education for 25+ years, including as a University Registrar.

Articulation Agreements & Equivalency Building

Hosted by Scott Ziolko, Senior Evaluator, Columbia College

Scott Ziolko is a Senior Evaluator in the Office of the Registrar at Columbia College of Missouri. For the last 15 years he has evaluated a great variety of transcripts from community colleges, universities, Joint Service Transcripts (JSTs) and certificates from nontraditional sources. He is the lead Evaluator on Columbia College’s Transfer Equivalency Portal which provides both transfer course equivalencies and transfer guides showing how courses apply towards popular degree plans. Scott is also responsible for the majority of military precursory reviews, a service Columbia College offers to anyone who has served. He has presented about Columbia College’s Transfer Equivalency Portal at several conferences such as the CollegeSource User Conference and the Committee on Articulation and Transfer (COTA) in Missouri. Scott received his B.A. in English from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Tim Horzmann is the Process Analyst at CollegeSource. Tim is familiar with Transfer Credits, Ellucian Colleague, TES, Transferology, Hyland OnBase, Reverse Transfer, and Military Credit Evaluations.

Serving Transfer Students: Technology & Future Trends

Amber Andrade earned her B.A. and M.B.A. at California Baptist University, where she currently works as the Assistant Registrar for the university’s Online Division, providing leadership and direction in matters of transcripts and records. She has worked in higher education for more than ten years. She currently serves as the President for Southern California Intersegmental Articulation Counsel for Region 9. She has presented at the AACRAO Tech and Transfer Conference, the AACRAO Annual Conference, the CACCRAO Annual Conferences, and the CollegeSource Annual Conference. Her article, “TES-ting the Waters of Transfer Technology,” was recently published in the AACRAO quarterly journal. She is cognizant of the fact that it is the unconditional love from her family that made it possible for her to attain her educational and professional achievements.
