PRESS RELEASE | SAN DIEGO, JUNE 29, 2021 – CollegeSource, the higher education industry’s most trusted provider of transfer and degree achievement solutions, announced the winners of its annual Sourcies Awards, which recognize institutions’ best practices in transfer and degree achievement. Announced during the CollegeSource Annual Conference – again held virtually this year – the 2021 Sourcies were awarded to Jefferson Community and Technical College for Superior Work in Supporting Statewide Transfer, Metropolitan State University for Best Holistic Model for Transfer Student Success, and to California State University, San Bernardino for Innovation in Degree Achievement Solutions.
Watch to see the winners virtually accept their Sourcies awards.
“We are thrilled to honor three outstanding institutions that have utilized CollegeSource’s solutions to innovate their transfer and degree evaluation processes to ensure the academic and career prosperity of their collective students and staff,” said Kerry Cooper, CEO of CollegeSource.
At Jefferson Community and Technical College, a team was tasked with reviewing, cleaning, and expanding the number of course equivalences to be used as the definitive set for the Kentucky community and technical college system’s 16 institutions which share a catalog and collectively serve over 100,000 students annually. Team leads Cassie Poole and Beth Dixon utilized CollegeSource’s Transfer Evaluation System (TES) to create 6,503 new equivalencies and update another 3,394 to further enable statewide transfers. This work will allow students to easily navigate a path to their most fulfilling academic careers.
With the help of CollegeSource’s Transferology and uAchieve degree audit solutions, Metropolitan State University has achieved a high level of transfer-friendliness. Founded on a mission of exclusively serving transfer students as a “university without walls,” Metropolitan State University can fulfill its longstanding commitment of maximizing the applicability of transfer credits to ensure student mobility as the university still enjoys a nearly 95% transfer student population.
This year, California State University, San Bernardino was inspired by CollegeSource’s uAchieve’s Exceptions-from-the-Audit feature to make their current process of approving exceptions for degree achievement audits more efficient. Moving from quarters to semesters, the public institution knew there would be a rise in exception requests, which were previously handled manually. With uAchieve’s Exceptions-from-the-Audit, students can more accurately track their degree achievement progress and the work of the institution’s advising staff is far more efficient and streamlined.
