We are currently accepting nominations for the 5th annual CollegeSource Best Practices Awards. (We affectionately refer to them as The Sourcies!) Our Best Practices Awards recognize schools and organizations in our user community that are doing remarkable things with CollegeSource products.
Last year, Jefferson Community and Technical College was recognized for Superior Work in Supporting Statewide Transfer, Metropolitan State University for Best Holistic Model for Transfer Student Success, and California State University, San Bernardino for Innovation in Degree Achievement Solutions.
At Jefferson Community and Technical College, a team was tasked with reviewing, cleaning, and expanding the number of course equivalencies to be used as the definitive set for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System—16 institutions that share a catalog and collectively serve over 100,000 students annually. Team leads Cassie Poole and Beth Dixon utilized CollegeSource’s TES®, the Transfer Evaluation System, to create 6,503 new equivalencies and update another 3,394 to further enable statewide transfers. This work has allowed students to more easily navigate a path to their most fulfilling academic careers.
With the help of Transferology® and uAchieve® Degree Audit solutions, Metropolitan State University has achieved a high level of transfer-friendliness. Founded on a mission of exclusively serving transfer students as a “university without walls,” MSU utilizes CollegeSource tools to maximize the applicability of transfer credits and ensure student mobility. The institution continues to enjoy a student population that is made up of nearly 95% transfer students.
California State University, San Bernardino was inspired by uAchieve’s Exceptions-from-the-Audit feature to design a custom approval process for clearing degree audit exceptions more efficiently. Moving from quarters to semesters, the public institution knew there would be a rise in exception requests, which were previously handled manually. The new process enables students to more quickly realize hours applicable to their degree, streamlines the work of the advising staff, and provides enhanced records and accountability.
