About the series
Launched in March 2024, Let’s Talk Transfer provides a valuable platform for transfer professionals to connect, share best practices, gather resources, and address critical issues facing transfer students. The virtual event format consists of a large group discussion for the first half of the session and smaller breakout rooms by topic for deeper discussion during the second half. If you are unable to attend live, sessions including breakouts and chat logs are recorded for later viewing.
Real changes are being made on campuses as a result of the discussion taking place at Let’s Talk Transfer. Read the press release celebrating our successful first year of the series.
Who attends Let’s Talk Transfer?
The series is open to all college and university staff (and faculty!) who support, or are interested in learning more about transfer. Individuals do not have to belong to an institution that uses a CollegeSource product to participate.
You’ll be among others working in community colleges, four-year institutions, private institutions, state and systemwide organizations, and on-campus support groups. In this unique space, attendees are encouraged participate in sharing processes and practices, ask questions, form takeaways, and get to know other transfer professionals during the meeting. Attending sessions will expand your higher education network by providing valuable peer support and an avenue to make new connections.
When and where does it take place?
Conversations take place on the third Tuesday of every other month from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET and are held virtually through Zoom Meeting. While having your camera on is optional, it is encouraged to help us get to know each other better.
What topics are covered?
General topics will be chosen in advance but are subject to change, based on demand and scheduling. The upcoming session topic will be posted on this page prior to each meeting. Past session topics can be viewed in the archive of recordings further below.
If you would like to suggest a topic for discussion, please submit your ideas to ta**********@co***********.com.
By and large, our first year of sessions covered strategies for streamlining the transfer process, such as exploring innovative approaches to simplify transfer pathways and improve student success. The series also delved into examining strategies to support underrepresented transfer students and non-traditional credit, and close equity gaps in higher education. Additionally, Let’s Talk Transfer explored how technology can be used to improve credit evaluation, facilitate data sharing, and change institutional policies.
