San Diego, CA – CollegeSource has announced that it will be offering free use of the company’s newest and most popular software services to institutions of higher education for the purpose of evaluating military learning experiences. A limited version of both TES®, the Transfer Evaluation System used by the faculty and staff of U.S. colleges and universities, and Transferology™, the nationwide network of transfer information for students, will be made available, free of charge, starting August, 2014.
TES and Transferology work hand-in-hand to help schools research student learning experiences for the purpose of transferring credit between institutions. “We have been providing powerful software to thousands of campuses to help students achieve their academic dreams, and now we can really do our part to help the women and men who serve our country in the armed forces do the same!” says Kerry Cooper, CEO of CollegeSource, Inc.
TES contains over 70 million course descriptions, current and historic, from virtually every college and university in the United States. Recently TES has expanded to include other types of learning experiences, such as the AP and CLEP credits offered by CollegeBoard and the military educational experiences published by the American Council on Education.
“We have always been impressed with the amount of work the American Council on Education does to help organize, publicize, and evaluate the thousands of courses and occupational training packages offered by the armed forces” says Troy Holaday, President of CollegeSource, Inc. “Making the data available through TES, where evaluators can quickly build equivalencies that advantage service personnel, and then helping students nationwide find out how their credits will count at various institutions through Transferology will be an incredible win for everyone involved.”
TES helps schools research courses from student transcripts, route them to faculty for evaluation, and build equivalency rules to establish quick, accurate, and consistent responses to transfer students. Institutions that use TES collectively enrolled more than 14 million students last year.
Transferology is a new product from CollegeSource that will launch this March. Using Transferology, students can go online 24/7, enter prior learning experiences, and see how that coursework might transfer to other institutions in the network. Results are ranked by the amount of coursework accepted and how specific the credit awards are from each institution. Students can sort and filter results, request more information from the schools, and look into the various degree programs offered at each institution.
CollegeSource, Inc., creates powerful tools for maximizing the higher education experience. Institutions interested in using the free services should watch the site beginning in July to register for webinars that will introduce the software and describe the process of participation.
