Unlocking Credit for Prior Learning: Policies, Practices, and Partnerships

As students increasingly pursue nontraditional pathways to higher education, colleges and universities face the challenge—and opportunity—of recognizing learning that happens outside the classroom. This panel brings together higher education leaders and representatives from alternative credit providers to discuss evolving policies and practical approaches to awarding credit for prior learning (CPL). From Sophia Learning to AP, CLEP, Cambridge International, StraighterLine, and beyond, we’ll explore how institutions are integrating these credits to support access, affordability, and completion. Attendees will gain insight into both institutional decision-making and cross-sector collaboration, followed by a breakout discussion to share experiences and ideas.
