Did you know that the state of Illinois is the nation’s leader in “bachelor’s degree completion rates among community college students who transfer to four-year institutions?” In this Inside Higher Ed article, Holly Pflum, Transfer Initiative Coordinator at the University of Illinois System, describes how successful statewide initiatives inspired the University of Illinois system, comprised of 3 universities, to develop a more active transfer portfolio of partnered transfer guarantees, recruitment events, educational symposiums, and more. The initiatives included a “general education course articulation mandate (the Illinois Articulation Initiative) alongside a statewide initiative designed to facilitate transfer within Illinois using the nationally available tool Transferology.”
