All-new encoding workshop and additional topical workshops are available for uAchieve users!
To better accommodate the myriad training needs of our clients, the functional experts on our Customer Success team have spent the past couple of years restructuring our training program to make it easier to access, more modular, and more cost-effective for institutions to get the requisite training. To this end, we have created a more robust framework for uAchieve encoding training, including the following.
uAchieve Encoding Workshop
The new and improved uAchieve Encoding Workshop uses a blended training approach, combining individual learning with guided hands-on practice and exercises provided by trainers with real-world degree audit encoding experience. The workshop is intended for beginning encoders or anyone wanting a robust encoding refresher and covers topics applicable to all versions of uAchieve. It will be offered as a virtual training a few times throughout the year beginning in 2025 but can also be delivered on request for individual institutions or regional groups.
Dive deeper with advanced encoding topics
Additionally, we developed a new series of uAchieve Encoding Advanced Topics Workshops to offer shorter, focused training on areas of encoding that go beyond the encoding basics. Each topic will be offered in an online format at least once a year, and the initial topics will include:
-
- Advanced String Table Rules
- Calculating Required Electives Using Reference Values
- Course Grouping Sub-Requirements
- Encoding Credit Restrictions and Limits
- System Condition Codes and Conditional Requirements
Get ahead with training in 2025
We will continue to develop additional training opportunities and modes of delivery, including more interactive online resources for encoders, moving our training platform to a Learning Management System, overhauling the uAchieve Transfer Articulation Workshop, and creating a new framework for degree audit encoding certification. According to client feedback from a presentation at the 2024 Annual Conference, we are heading in the right direction to better serve our clients’ training needs, and we hope you will all join us on this journey!
As a preview of our offerings next year, the uAchieve Advanced Topics: Course Grouping Sub-requirements will be offered on February 11, 2025, and the uAchieve Encoding Workshop will be offered on March 17-27, 2025 (no session on Friday).
Discounts of $50-200 off the registration costs are available for all uAchieve training workshops if three or more staff register from an institution. Please visit our uAchieve Training page using the button below to see the full calendar and register for a workshop.
In-depth uAchieve training available at the CollegeSource Annual Conference
Interested in onsite training, with a side of in-person networking and plenty of sunshine? The 2025 CollegeSource Annual Conference will offer two intensive training opportunities at the pre-conference for uAchieve users, in addition to regular sessions during the conference. Our pre-conference sessions take place on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego, California.
This year’s uAchieve pre-conference sessions include the following:
*NEW* uAchieve Degree Audit Encoding Primer
Monday, June 16, from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m. and from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Degree Audit encoding and processing is often challenging to explain to those who do not work with it daily. However, there are core concepts and basic knowledge that anyone who works with encoders or is beginning their own encoding journey needs to know. This session will provide an overview of the most relevant functionality and terminology of uAchieve Degree Audit encoding that anyone who interacts with it on a regular basis needs to know. It is intended for brand-new encoders who need an introduction to encoding, transfer articulation staff who need to understand how their work may impact degree audit encoding, those who manage degree audit encoders, and technical staff who do not encode but need to be aware of how encoding and degree audit processing function.
Advanced String Table Rules (uAchieve)
Monday, June 16, from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
The String table houses sets of courses with simple and complex relationships to one another and is used to deal with course equivalencies, limiting credit, prerequisite management, and course time-sequencing. This session will cover String table concepts, the use and function of control rules, types of String relationships, and how String table rules can be used for curriculum scenarios. A brief review of the basic equivalency string types will be followed by lessons on the advanced string rule types of credit-limiting, prerequisite checking, and time sequencing. Additional advanced topics, such as multiple string rule effect and exceptions, will also be discussed. This session, part of the uAchieve Advanced Topics Workshop series, counts towards the training requirement for the uAchieve Degree Audit Encoder certification.
Which workshops would cover the content of the previously offered Intermediate Encoding workshop?
Hi Suzanne, the new uAchieve Encoding Advanced Topics Workshop series will cover what was in the intermediate workshop, breaking up the content into separate sessions throughout the year.
