Creating, maintaining, and promoting articulation agreements
On Tuesday, November 19, CollegeSource hosted the fifth session of the Let’s Talk Transfer community discussion series, where all transfer professionals (regardless of whether they use CollegeSource products) are invited to share their expertise and ask questions on transfer-related topics.
Breakout on maintaining articulation agreements at the November 19, 2024, session of Let’s Talk Transfer.
Topics of discussion
An overview of Year 1 Survey results
The meeting started with an overview of the results from the Let’s Talk Transfer Year 1 Survey sent to registrants in September. This survey sought attendee feedback on the future of Let’s Talk Transfer, including its renewal, format, and potential topics. One hundred twenty-six institutions from across thirty-seven states and territories participated in the survey – the overwhelming majority from four-year institutions.
Sarah and Tim shared notable feedback from the survey, including comments from one attendee that…
“[Let’s Talk Transfer] is by far the most accessible way that I have found to connect with my peers at other institutions, get answers to my questions, and learn how other schools handle certain transfer scenarios.”
It was great to hear this feedback and see that we are succeeding in our goal to create a community space for collaboration, ideas, and process sharing.
Before delving into the main discussion, Sarah and Tim also shared quotes from four universities about the institutional changes that have occurred (or are occurring) because of the discussion at Let’s Talk Transfer.
Articulation agreements
The main topic of discussion centered around articulation agreements. Attendees shared their insights regarding processes for creating and maintaining articulations. Some attendees noted using templates to help structure agreements and streamline their creation. Attendees also shared their processes for keeping articulations relevant, including tracking included courses and anticipating curriculum changes that would impact the agreements.
Additional topics of discussion included:
-
- Higher Learning Commission requirements for articulation agreements
- Handling transfer decisions specific to an articulation
- Identifying students who transfer to a four-year institution under an articulation
- The office(s) responsible for maintaining and collecting data on articulations
